Description

The Gold Neon Cleaner Goby is a tiny but eye-catching saltwater goby featuring a dark body accented by a brilliant golden-yellow stripe running from its head toward the tail. Its small adult size, peaceful personality, and excellent reef compatibility make it a great choice for both nano reefs and larger community reef aquariums.

True to its name, this goby may establish a cleaning station, where larger fish allow it to pick at external parasites, loose scales, and dead tissue. While this behavior is fascinating to watch, the Gold Neon Goby does not need parasites to survive and should still receive regular aquarium foods.

Feeding

Offer small meaty foods such as:

• Frozen mysis shrimp
• Enriched brine shrimp
• Finely chopped seafood
• Small marine pellets
• Marine flakes

Because of its small mouth, appropriately sized foods are important.

Tank Behavior

Gold Neon Cleaner Gobies spend much of their time perched on rocks and coral or hovering around potential cleaning stations. They are generally very peaceful toward other aquarium inhabitants, although multiple cleaner gobies may become territorial with one another unless they are a compatible pair or have adequate space.

Reef Compatibility

Excellent reef fish. They are considered safe with corals and most ornamental invertebrates and are particularly well suited to smaller reef systems.
