Pearlscale Goldfish

Pearlscale Goldfish are one of the most unusual and charming varieties of fancy goldfish, instantly recognizable by their round, golf-ball shaped bodies and distinctive raised scales. Each scale has a domed, bead-like appearance that reflects light and gives the fish its “pearl” look, creating a textured and almost jeweled effect across the body.

Pearlscales come in several colors including orange, white, red and white, black, and calico. Some varieties may also develop a small head growth similar to an Oranda. Their compact body and flowing double tail give them a slow, gentle swimming style that adds to their ornamental appeal.

Because of their rounded shape, Pearlscale Goldfish are less agile swimmers and should be kept with other fancy goldfish that share a similar pace. Smooth décor and good water quality are important, as their body shape can make them more sensitive to poor water conditions.

Like all goldfish, they produce a significant amount of waste and require a spacious aquarium with strong filtration and regular maintenance. A varied diet of high-quality pellets, flakes, vegetables, and occasional frozen foods will help keep them healthy and vibrant.
